Beilngries Day Tour and the Master Builders Legacy
My Beilngries Day Tour shows how the Middle Ages and the modern era blend together perfectly in Beilgries to accentuate the Rococo and Baroque architecture of its Old Town. But Beilngries is more than the splendid buildings of former prince-bishops, ancient granary stores, elegant townhouses and Baroque town hall that make up its core. It is also well known for its location in the beautiful Altmühl Valley on the banks of the Sulz and Altmühl rivers.
On a stroll through the historic Old Town you can admire the nine striking town wall towers, the colorful roofs of the bell towers of St. Walpurga parish church, town hall, and the imposing "Haus des Gastes" that formerly served as the prince-bishop's granary.
After arriving in Beilngries we will tour the Old Town and visit, among other places of interest, the town wall towers, the Kaiserbeck House, the St. Walburga Parish Church, and the Town Hall. For lunch we'll go to Gästehaus St. Gregor at the Benedictine Abbey Plankstetten for a 100% "all organic" meal (lunch not included in price below). After lunch it is off to Falkenhof Castle Rosenburg in Riedenburg for a falconry demonstration held in the castle courtyard. Castle Rosenburg, probably built in the middle of the 12th century, was acquired by the Dukes of Bavaria in 1196, and from then on remained in the hands of the House of Wittelsbach. The castle is now used by a privately run falconry with a Museum of Hunting and Falconry.
My Beilngries tour is a leisurely, kid friendly, walking tour where YOU set the pace. Please don't forget to wear comfortable walking shoes.
